What is the perfect amount of coffee to put in the coffee maker to make good tasting coffee?

Question by Alison P: What is the perfect amount of coffee to put in the coffee maker to make good tasting coffee?

My mom tells me to put half the amount of spoonfuls than the cups of water. For instance, to use 4 spoonfuls of coffee for 8 cups of water. However it never tastes right when I make it. We use the same spoon every day so that measurement is right. How do you make coffee? Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts is not an option, I want to do it at home.

You’re mom is right on the money. If it tastes right when she makes it, have her show you what her scoops look like. She probably is making her spoonfuls more or less heaping than you. For me, I like having stronger coffee, so my scoops are slightly heaped. Also, make sure that the amount of water you’re using is correct. On my coffeepot, I need to pour more water into the back of the coffee maker in order for it to brew 8 full cups. Hope that helps!

For a 10 cup coffee maker, I use 4 HEAPING Tablespoons. I like my coffee bold, and this is the best ratio. Normally I make 8 cups with 3 heaping tblsp.
