Not only does coffee protect against radiation, type 2 diabetes, and cancer, studies have now shown that coffee lowers the risk of gout.
A team at the University of British Columbia found that blood uric acid levels (which are linked to gout) were lower in people who drank coffee regularly. The researchers found that people who drink more coffee (four or more) a day were more likely to have lower uric acid levels in their blood than those who drank one or fewer.
Research has also shown that caffeine is not the active ingredient as there was no measurable benefit to those who drink 4 or more cups of tea per day.
